So, I did, the truth is, manage to somehow make a outfit in less than a week. With some help from our boyfriend, of course…!

I will create a few entries on the design process of the costume, possibly two or so. They will be set up over the course of the week.

To summarize: I made Izumi’s costume from Kujibiki Unbalance/Genshiken. I showed up in the Garage in Harvard Square just a little before 8pm on Sunday, the place that the judges had already sort of packed up… but of course, these people still let me enter since I was there before Eight.

They took my picture and asked me a few questions regarding my costume. I entered inside the novice category. They didn’t devote very long looking at my dress-up costume, maybe one or two minutes.

Ultimately, I got an honourable mention for my costume. It was a little disappointing… as does every cosplayer whom works hard on their outfit and enters a contest, I want to to place. I was hoping for Finally. ;;; But that was optimistic, anyway, and I’m really proud that I was able to create a nice costume in under a week and wear it anywhere where some people would appreciate it. One girl actually know whom I was and what sequence I was from! That was pretty nice.

Here is a final costume photo of me as Izumi, after returning from the event, and a photo of the amount I based my outfit on:

Sad Incidents, and Items to Look Forward To

January 23rd, 2012 >> Girls Cosplay Ideas

Well, I’ll be a day guiding on my costumes already, due to the fact last night my sewing machine completely broke. Bah! I’m going to go back to utilizing my mom’s old machine, which I used to use all the time until I was gifted a replacement. I’ll only lose one or two evenings of work.

Before it happened, I managed to finish leading and put a collar on, but I’m not happy with the actual collar so I’ll be resewing the idea.

Luckily, I know I have lots of time to finish my costume perform, and I’m really looking forward to the convention! Only a couple of my friends can be this year, but it should be a great time… it’s easier to coordinate fewer people anyway, I suppose.

Furthermore, I wanted to mention that there’s a very cool-looking game that quite literally was just released called Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. I didn’t play the first Sacred game, however this one seems pretty interesting, and the character designs found my eye. Anything with a Dryad in it may be valued at trying out, to me. I often discover games coming out that I want to get, but I rarely do… these are so expensive! I usually wait for a sale, holiday, or to acquire it used. Fortunately, this time I’m going to have the opportunity to play farmville almost right after its release to see how it is… I’ll show you ;

You can check out some screenshots, videos, etc at the Sacred 2 website, if it seems like it will be your thing. More costume updates to come in the next few weeks! Hope the one you have are all coming together!

Another Pair of Giant Scissers.

January 15th, 2012 >> Girls Cosplay Ideas

Merely a quick progress photo on the OTHER pair of giant scissors: Casper’s (my very own!) for our Anime Boston Deathsmiles class. How did I find yourself doing two costumes in a row with giant scissor weapons? Who also wear blue? And also have caplets? Who knows -_-

They’re made out of foamcore, a few expanding foam, and papers pulp mache. It needs a LOT of sanding, and probably a bit of reshaping. I had trouble despite having the pattern getting these to look right, proportionately, so they will not be up to my usual prop perfectionist standards; however, I think the complete effect will be great. I will try to get them to have a much more of the skeletal feeling the scissors in the artwork do. Your pattern was a bit of a give up between the box art and a photo of a Casper figure We saw. They also won’t enter and exit like my other scissors; the design is just too weird, and they will be better served as a noise prop, I think.

The scissors as they’re pictured below aren’t assembled at all. They may be just pieces stacked together with each other.

Please excuse the particular dirty floor,it needs vacuum pressure. Also, I have the worst vacuum ever. Can’t delay to get a new one when I proceed!

It’s all over, for now

December 30th, 2011 >> Girls Cosplay Ideas

So it’s been a while, and all that time may be full of obsessive costume creating and attending of cons large and small. It’s all over now, so we have reached the exhale section of the month.

I won’t go into any kind of details in this short post… but you will probably be seeing many posts from me in the next few weeks, starting last week. I’ll have some how tos, minus reports, costume reports, and so on.

In the mean time, I hope that anybody who went to Connecticon or Otakon had a wonderful time, as I know I did. Can’t hold out to look at all the thousands and thousands regarding photos… :D

For now, get ready to experience this… probably the best thing at the Otakon 2008 masquerade, although the video really doesn’t do it justice.

Just a quick update on my Space Commander Haruhi costume. I spent today taking apart and then reassembling my costume, because I wasn’t happy with the fit. Sometimes it’s better in order to bite the bullet, if you’ll, and spend a day correcting things, rather than just let it go and have the problem become a whole lot worse over time.

So I’m again where I started, but in a lot better way:

I think it’s hunting pretty good… the stripes on the sleeves don’t match up exactexact with all the shoulder, but I did our best, and there will be other stuff on the shoulders, anyway.

It really is getting close to the con, consequently I’ve made up a costume routine… just gotta stick to it now!

Blizzcon, Baby! :D

December 26th, 2011 >> Girls Cosplay Ideas

That’s right! I’m leaving very soon for Blizzcon with my friend Henry, and we are both ridiculously enthusiastic.

I should be sleeping because I have to get up early, but too bad! Hopefully I’ll be able to sleep on the plane… I always want to but rarely manage it, so maybe getting sleepy will help. ;

I was gonna put everything in the suitcase when I decided it would be entertaining to sew up my WoW-related t-shirts a little, since they’re all a little huge (my Ventrilo shirt, ridiculously consequently). Not cosplay or terribly good stitching, but still clothing-related con prep… and also fun! (Do I look drowsy? Because I AM o_o;)

I have some small cards both for my cosplay site and for my Amazing character, and I hope to hand out a lot of each! So if you’re one of several two people who reads this specific, and will be at Blizzcon, come locate me. ._.

I’m going to try to blog from Mike’s phone although I’m there, but we don’t know how that’s gonna exercise. so if I don’t, I’ll be sure to write a nice entry regarding the con when I get back. For real! School’s over. However, it’s going to be hard to control my inconsistent cosplay emotions – being envious and angry because I did not have time/money to make a WoW outfit (which, if you don’t know chances are, is a gigantic slice involving my Cosplay Dreams piechart), and being excited and impressed by the great costumes. Bah!

…BLIZZCON, BABY :D DD

Phoenix Wright: Justice for All

December 19th, 2011 >> Girls Cosplay Ideas

I just done the second installment of the Phoenix arizona Wright: Ace Attorney series with regard to Nintendo DS, and I had to email say how amazing I think it is.

It’s even more exciting than the first one, much more exciting, and more amusing (and that i thought the first one was wonderful). They expanded on the game’s technique to make solving the criminal offenses even more exciting.

If you have never played or heard of Phoenix az Wright, now is a great time to start; the 3rd installment was recently released in the US. I’m waiting for my boyfriend to finish so I can borrow his or her. :3

PW is a visual book type game. It is mostly textual content based. As a defense lawyer, you have to defend your clients, checking for clues and presenting evidence to prove all of them innocent. If you like solving mysteries, figuring out puzzles, and/or participating in an appealing and engaging story with a wealth of great characters, you’ll like this game.

I’d like to cosplay since Franziska von Karma some day. She’s sassy because hell.

Thanks to the magic of Facebook, I have a cosplay customer. She’s a very nice college student who was simply looking to have a part of the woman’s costume done by commission.

She is going as Urd from My oh my! My Goddess, and I’ll be producing the dress part of the costume. The girl came over last week to lower off supplies, meet myself, and get measured. She’s very nice!

My partner and i still have some mixed sensations about costume commissions all round, and I’m wondering how others feel about it. On one palm, I love love LOVE cosplay as well as making costumes, so virtually any chance to make a great outfit is fantastic. On the other side, I can’t help but think that I want credit for my own work, and when someone else wears the costume, it’s hard to express if the credit is correctly placed. I also really like the concept of people making their own outfits. However, I realize many people lack access to resources or have skills such as sewing. I are very fortunate to have these products.

I think costume commissions are fantastic, if the client knows never to take credit for the costume’s building, and if they aren’t mass(ant)-produced throw-it-on-ebay-in-5-sizes kind of thing. Custom costumes for the specific person is something I might be able to get into, particularly pertaining to boys, since I am not one of those. I was very satisfied with costumes I’ve made for my girlfriends, so it shouldn’t be different persons.

It’s Kicking In!

November 12th, 2011 >> Girls Cosplay Ideas

So I’m settled in at the job, and hopefully will be deciding into an apartment in the near future. The holiday season is over (wonderful, but a new time-suck :3). It’s time to start in on some costumes! Reflecting in last year, I did a pitiful level of costuming. That was mostly due to income issues, but this year, I am going to make it happen. I have a lot around the docket, and it’s all going to happen!

Can do for you I have planned currently, around in the order it will be completed/worn:

Jan

Prop for the Blizzard prop competition (which I just found out about, which is EXACTLY up my street… holy crap! D:)

Percentage: American Mcgee’s Alice, for my friend Dorothy

February – March – A group cosplay and masquarade (that’s right!) entry with some fellow cosplayers from perform. For Anime Boston. This summer – Bellatrix Lestrange. For the midnight exhibiting of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Pt. 2. The last Harry Potter movie… ._.October – Rhianna. For Halloween. Or a concert. If she has one. And I go. :3Late Summer/Early Fall – Nighttime Elf Druid in Stormrage. For Blizzcon (hopefully).I would also like to fix up some of my other costumes, particularly Pokemon and Souseiseki.

I’ll be posting a few progress updates as I’m able on each project. I am excited about costumes for the new year! :D

Oh, and the image is what I ended up wearing to the Monster Ball (as mentioned in my previous post). My spouse and i only had time to make a lightning bolt, but I liked it. :3 Also, awkward arm is awkward.

Oh, and One More Point.

October 12th, 2011 >> Girls Cosplay Ideas

So, remember when I said My spouse and i wasn’t going to make a costume regarding Anime Boston? Yeah, My partner and i lied. The day after I composed that last post, My partner and i spoke to my (brand-new! :D ) friend from operate, and found she was interested in cosplaying. I mentioned that I always wanted to do Souseiseki and Suiseiseki from Rozen Maiden using someone, and she was completely on board! I couldn’t pass in which up. So here I am, producing another costume. Wee! I’m going to be Souseiseki and she’ll be Suiseiseki. I believe it will suit her quite nicely.

Luckily, she has sewing abilities of her own, so I don’t need to make two costumes. Also, as far as difficult sewing will go, this costume doesn’t have many of it. It’s pretty basic. The most difficult sewing-related items will be the usual closures (boo) and probably the ruffles.

We’re going to do their props at the same time, because it really adds one thing to their character, I think. They should be fun. I’ve always wanted to wield huge scissors!

Sewing will start off in about two weeks. I hope to get gathered everything I need until then so I don’t have to keep used up in the week before the disadvantage.

Next up, I’ll be writing a post on costume planning. I hope someone finds it valuable!

Progress. I made it.

Costumes tend to be coming along splendidly! Expect yours are, too.

My personal cosplay partner-in-crime is learning much in regards to the trials and tribulations associated with cosplay, but I think she’s taking pleasure in it overall. It’s great to have a girl to cosplay using. We’re already planning our next endeavours…

Meanwhile, the prop making keeps getting sent back in the schedule, which genuinely isn’t good. We’ll be beginning them this week.

I’ll publish some progress shots prior to the end of the week, too. Bed not the culprit that? Awesome. Yes. I am aware. Stay tuned for the second within my series of costume prep blogposts: Shopping. Agh! Scary! I know. Along with worry. It will be great. You will end up fine. If you’re not quite prepared for that, check out part One particular first.

Holy crap, Abdominal is already over! What a crazy couple of weeks this has been. Things are lastly dying down and getting back to normal. I have a bunch of pics to talk about, as well as stories about my personal costumes. Look for a few new posts this week on Anime Birkenstock boston 2009!
