So I’m settled in at the job, and hopefully will be deciding into an apartment in the near future. The holiday season is over (wonderful, but a new time-suck :3). It’s time to start in on some costumes! Reflecting in last year, I did a pitiful level of costuming. That was mostly due to income issues, but this year, I am going to make it happen. I have a lot around the docket, and it’s all going to happen!

Can do for you I have planned currently, around in the order it will be completed/worn:

Jan

Prop for the Blizzard prop competition (which I just found out about, which is EXACTLY up my street… holy crap! D:)

Percentage: American Mcgee’s Alice, for my friend Dorothy

February – March – A group cosplay and masquarade (that’s right!) entry with some fellow cosplayers from perform. For Anime Boston. This summer – Bellatrix Lestrange. For the midnight exhibiting of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Pt. 2. The last Harry Potter movie… ._.October – Rhianna. For Halloween. Or a concert. If she has one. And I go. :3Late Summer/Early Fall – Nighttime Elf Druid in Stormrage. For Blizzcon (hopefully).I would also like to fix up some of my other costumes, particularly Pokemon and Souseiseki.

I’ll be posting a few progress updates as I’m able on each project. I am excited about costumes for the new year! :D

Oh, and the image is what I ended up wearing to the Monster Ball (as mentioned in my previous post). My spouse and i only had time to make a lightning bolt, but I liked it. :3 Also, awkward arm is awkward.

So, remember when I said My spouse and i wasn’t going to make a costume regarding Anime Boston? Yeah, My partner and i lied. The day after I composed that last post, My partner and i spoke to my (brand-new! :D ) friend from operate, and found she was interested in cosplaying. I mentioned that I always wanted to do Souseiseki and Suiseiseki from Rozen Maiden using someone, and she was completely on board! I couldn’t pass in which up. So here I am, producing another costume. Wee! I’m going to be Souseiseki and she’ll be Suiseiseki. I believe it will suit her quite nicely.

Luckily, she has sewing abilities of her own, so I don’t need to make two costumes. Also, as far as difficult sewing will go, this costume doesn’t have many of it. It’s pretty basic. The most difficult sewing-related items will be the usual closures (boo) and probably the ruffles.

We’re going to do their props at the same time, because it really adds one thing to their character, I think. They should be fun. I’ve always wanted to wield huge scissors!

Sewing will start off in about two weeks. I hope to get gathered everything I need until then so I don’t have to keep used up in the week before the disadvantage.

Next up, I’ll be writing a post on costume planning. I hope someone finds it valuable!

Progress. I made it.

Costumes tend to be coming along splendidly! Expect yours are, too.

My personal cosplay partner-in-crime is learning much in regards to the trials and tribulations associated with cosplay, but I think she’s taking pleasure in it overall. It’s great to have a girl to cosplay using. We’re already planning our next endeavours…

Meanwhile, the prop making keeps getting sent back in the schedule, which genuinely isn’t good. We’ll be beginning them this week.

I’ll publish some progress shots prior to the end of the week, too. Bed not the culprit that? Awesome. Yes. I am aware. Stay tuned for the second within my series of costume prep blogposts: Shopping. Agh! Scary! I know. Along with worry. It will be great. You will end up fine. If you’re not quite prepared for that, check out part One particular first.

Holy crap, Abdominal is already over! What a crazy couple of weeks this has been. Things are lastly dying down and getting back to normal. I have a bunch of pics to talk about, as well as stories about my personal costumes. Look for a few new posts this week on Anime Birkenstock boston 2009!

A bit of cross-self-promotion.

I’ve actually been getting quite a few costume photos in Connecticon this year! I’m pretty proud of myself. However, I neglected to think about how I’d receive the photos to my computer while in CT… oh, dear. Perhaps there won’t be any photos until Saturday or Monday. Sorry. :My partner and i picked up a lot of Pokemon-related merchandise in 2010, and dropped some money in some hardcover volumes involving Black Jack (discounted heavily… wonderful!), nice prints from the artist alley, and a Totoro piano guide. And a handful of Japanese different goodies, since Connecticon lets vendors sell them :3

I also was gifted a Jirachi on my Pokemon Diamond game! And here I experienced thought I’d missed my personal chance to get it. So adorable, and with a crazy 140-power move. o_o;

That is all for this little bring up to date. I’ll be hitting the con un-costumed next week for a few hours. I’ll be traversing to a makeup panel, and maybe apply for an autograph. A relaxed evening. Hope everyone attending has been having a good weekend.

Create headings for each costume component and start listing them. By way of example, for Souseiseki’s cape, I have the next:Purchase materialsSew rufflesSew collarSew capeAttach collar to capeAttach ribbonThese are little steps that add up to creating the overall cape. Each one gets a checkbox next to it and will not get checked off till that part is TOTALLY total.

So I found out only today that Tokyo Little one in Harvard Square is having the cosplay contest on Sunday, March. 28. Obviously, I can’t complete this up (Tokyo Child is one of my favourite stores, and it’s another cosplay opportunity), but my costumes are at home within CT. Solution: I ran about to a lot of stores today but got almost everything I need to make Tachibana Izumi through Kujibiki Unbalance (which is, in turn, from the show Genshiken).

I’ll be documenting the process of making a costume in less than a week, so I hope everything works out, which I’ll learn some things! Much more updates to come. I have a lots of homework to do right now…

I would like to pop in a quick admittance to say that I’m not dead or perhaps anything. I haven’t been working on everything cosplay-related recently because I can’t find a job and, therefore, are unable to fund making costumes. It’s bad, really, because I have so much time on my hands… Imagine I’ll be working on those tutorials I keep saying will be upward and then aren’t. Sorry about that, by the way. Hopefully something will happen shortly, me?

Jobs, Jobs.

Man, that cosplay post never happened! We labored overtime for a few weeks at work, which left me short amount of time or energy to do… properly, anything.

I’m almost carried out with a project for a friend : a costume for her performance in a stage show, Kalliope’s Karavan, An Evening of Sideshow Delights! If you’d like some information, click here.

I’ll be posting some photos, in case she’ll permit me :D eb

Aside from this, I haven’t acquired the funds to make any new costumes for myself. My personal job situation is rather upwards in the air. However, I’m going to consider the opportunity to fix up existing halloween costumes, and look into my cloth archives to see what in addition I can drum up. I’ve most likely bought supplies for one thing and forgotten about it… >_>

You are going to hear from me sooner this time.

So, I did research on weapons to go with each WoW druid tier armor set (opt for meaning things I would potentially actually be using if I were raiding the dungeons these tiers fall from), and chose my personal favourites for each of the next three tier sets. Yes it’s true, I’ve narrowed it lower! Progress is nice, isn’t it? I thought we would make something more simple, followed by time do a more complicated a single (ie Dreamwalker or T8). My narrowed-down choices:

I prefer them all for different reasons. Thoughts?

How Embarassing D:

So! I was going through my blog comments, making certain I didn’t miss any junk e-mail, and realized I missed a really important comment from OCTOBER (*falls over*) telling me that the connect to my Izumi Goggle Tutorial (from this publish) was broken. Oh, the actual horror! It’s fixed right now! Head to the link above for some sweet tutorial action. And thanks for letting me realize! I am thoroughly ashamed. -_-;

We finally settled on Stormrage. I’ve always adored the design, and it’s a classic. Furthermore, it’s recently been reborn (a minimum of the head piece) via the fresh level 80 Onyxia encounter, in order that it seems appropriate.

Before I purchase started on that, though, Now i’m gonna do a more simple costume for (hopefully) Halloween. I’m maintaining it hush-hush for now, though. :D eb

I just started in January at the new school, and it’s very intense. But anyway… right here is the tutorial for making Izumi’s goggles. I’m nonetheless trying to land on a structure for tutorials that I like… this one is okay, but not excellent, in my opinion. Post a comment along with your thoughts on it… it will be ideal for the next tutorial!

The tutorial is in PDF format, so click the link to view or right-click and Save File As or even Download Linked File in order to save it to your computer.
